3 Things I Had To Let Go Of To Find Happiness, Healing & Balance

After many years of dabbling in a multitude of wellness practices, I realized that I was not experiencing the true deep healing, balance, and happiness I was seeking. It took years of trial and error to recognize that what I longed for could not be obtained through diet and exercise alone and to truly heal and find the balance I was seeking I was going to have to let go of some things that were holding me back from the balanced lifestyle I desired.

3 things I had to let go of:

1. Letting go of the need for outside approval from others.

Listen to your instincts. The truth is no one knows what’s best for you better than you. I now trust my choices and would never consider relying upon someone who isn’t exactly where I want to be for advice. I am the only one capable of knowing what is truly best for me but also know when it’s time to ask for help or guidance from a professional or a person who has been there too. Trusting myself and my intuition has been one of the best and most important decisions I have ever made, never steering me wrong. It feels amazing to trust myself and make the choices that are best for me.

2. Letting go of the desire to fit in with societal standards.

One thing I recognize is that we are not meant to be carbon copies of each other, and many of us struggle with wanting more for ourselves beyond what society has told us we are worthy or capable of. We are all so different, and the awareness of what works for one person is not necessarily what’s best for me was life-changing. The moment I stepped outside of that limiting mindset and started to make the choices that are aligned with what feels best for me I’ve found a whole level of balance, happiness, and fulfillment perfectly aligned with my needs. Granted, some people have opinions about my choices, but I’m not letting them stop me from doing what I intuitively know to be best for me. Some of the most effective modalities I currently use are not considered conventional, even though they have been effectively used for thousands of years in societies across the globe. Being ok with the labels or judgments I may encounter for choosing differently than the norm has opened me up to so many beautiful and effective healing modalities.

3. Letting go of the unhealthy habits I used to avoid feeling things fully.

I used to drink, smoke, gossip, shop often, and do anything I could to avoid the feelings of discomfort & lack of self-esteem I was experiencing. It was an easy, yet very limiting way to divert my attention away from those complicated feelings. As I began to recognize & explore why I was doing these things and how they truly made me feel, which was not good at all, I noticed that I reached for them less and less. Showing up and fully exploring these uncomfortable feelings has made me stronger, more resilient, and truly opened my awareness to a whole different level of understanding of balanced wellness. When you start honestly looking at your “unhealthy” habits instead of regularly indulging in them you learn a lot about yourself, its also so much easier to make the choices that are aligned and balanced with your wellness and happiness.

Finding the true deep healing, wellness, and contentment we desire often requires a multifaceted and integrative approach. We have to be willing to admit that it’s not as easy as we are led to believe and that no one’s life is ever really perfectly balanced all of the time. Once you can accept this fact and start to make the changes and choices that are aligned with what you truly want and need, the path to healing and balance will begin to open up for you.

Wishing you all the ability to always know what is truly best for you and the deep healing and balance you desire!
